They have many benefits but are most noted for their ability to stop the transfer of heat unlike canvas. They stop the heat and keep cabin interiors cooler. You have the ability to operate the hatches normally without removing the covers. There are no cords or strings to worry with. They are UV resistant and stain resistant. They also float if dropped overboard.
