Ocean Helpers

I snuck my two dogs onto the beach early Wednesday morning before the life-guard got there at 9am. My dog’s Snowy and Fuego’s absolute happy place. All I have to say is “beach?” and they burst into doggy laughter followed by a completely uncoordinated clumsy dance while making their way to the leash bin.

I noticed, while walked along the beach, two little girls and an adult in the distance. They appeared to be collecting something by the shore line and then transferring into plastic bags. Fuego ran in their direction, he’s not called fire for nothing, he is fast, excitable and can be alarmingly friendly. Not sure how these two girls are going to react, hoping it’s good because as you can imagine, Fuego is hundreds of miles ahead of me. As I get closer I can see an all around joyous connection. The woman smiles in my direction while the girls and Fuego are busy getting sandy and wet. Two plastic bags full of the girls collections are now sitting on the beach. I glanced over at the treasures and what I saw was a truly inspiring yet ugly sight. This beautiful family, Wendy Melo and her two daughters Olivia 8yrs old and Lillian 7yrs old spent part of their morning collecting garbage on the beach. Wendy, a Natural Health Consultant, wmwellnesscoach.com is now in a position to give the girls a chance to learn about life outside of the four walls of a classroom. Wendy is home schooling Olivia and Lillian.

“The girls learn not only how important it is to keep our beaches clean,” Wendy said “they also find it interesting to see where the garbage originated from.”

One of their favorite stops is the Loggerhead Marine Life Center in Juno Beach Florida.

Life is a beautiful gift, I wanted to share this story so I could remind you as I was reminded.
